Did You Know?

Male and female hornbills will perform a courtship ritual with wing and tail displays, preening and feeding each other. Then the two will choose a hollow tree in which to build their nest. Once they breed, the female is "encased" inside the hollow. The male will close up the opening with mud, feces and feathers. From then on, the male feeds the female while she sits on the nest.
