Spooky Zoo

Spooky Zoo is back, offering daytime outdoor autumn activities for the whole family.  Come trick-or-treat (while supplies last) with us beginning at 10:00 am. Kids and adults will enjoy a packed schedule of seasonal activities including: animal encounters, the annual elephant Pumpkin Stomp, meet & greet with costumed characters, hands-on crafts, and free trick-or-treat bags provided by National Grid! Join a drumming circle on Saturday, or enjoy performances by band Steve Elci & Friends on Sunday. 

Please note: This event is free with Zoo admission and all children 12 and under dressed in costume get in for half price. All activities are weather permitting and while supplies last.

Rock-A-Baby Concerts

This exciting 45-minute concert specifically geared towards our youngest Zoo guests promises to be fun for the whole family. The Rock-a-Baby trio will introduce the true stars of their show – “Rhythm, Melody and Harmony” - three silly and entertaining puppets who know a lot about music. Playing everything from well-known children’s songs to rock and pop classics - shake, dance and sing along as we explore fun musical concepts, play games, and boogie down.

Time: 10:30am - 11:15am (all concerts)
Price: $7.00 per participant (age 2 & older) Pre-Registration is required.

Please note: There are no refunds unless the Zoo cancels the program. We must receive requests to transfer the date of your registration at least 48 hours in advance. We cannot guarantee your requests that may be dependent upon availability. If there are any changes to your registration, there is a $5 fee.

This program fee does not include Zoo admission. You must purchase Zoo tickets at the Zoo entrance on the day of the concert. Too Ghoul for School: An After Dark Event for Young Adults

Hosted by the Roger Williams Park Zoo's Youth Advisory Council

Join us for an evening of Fall fun! You will enjoy exclusive access to parts of the zoo, up close animal encounters, games, trivia, raffles, costumes and modern twists on classic Halloween traditions! Participants will also have front of the line access to the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular! This exclusive event is only open to guests 16-21 years of age and will sell out quickly! Gates open at 5:30pm with activities and trail access concluding at 9:00pm.

Sensory-friendly nights at Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular
October 31, 2019 - 5:00pm to November 3, 2019 - 6:00pm
Event Information

Join us for a special sensory-friendly Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular an hour before the trail opens to the public: designed those with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and sensory processing differences and their families from 5:00 – 6:00 pm.

For maximum enjoyment, the over 5000 pumpkins will light up the Zoo’s Wetlands Trail, but there will be no music or special effects. This year’s highlights include intricately carved pumpkins with scenes from New England's beautiful four seasons - winter, spring, summer and autumn.

Dates: Thursday, October 31 - Sunday, November 3

Time: 5:00 - 6:00 pm

Pricing: Tickets are available for purchase in person ONLY at the Zoo's admissions booth. Ticket prices are $15 for adults; $12 for children ages two – twelve. Children one and under are free, but still need a ticket.  Roger Williams Park Zoo members save $2 off adult and $1 off child tickets. Members must present a current Roger Williams Park Zoo membership card and another form of matching photo I.D. Reciprocal memberships are not eligible for this member discount. 

Please note: Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular is open rain or shine. In the case of light to moderate rain, the show will be open. There will be no refunds or rescheduling.

Breakfast with the Moon Bears (Ages 7+)

Marco Polo’s adventure brought him face to face with the exotic animals of the Silk Road, and so will yours! Start by dining on a hot breakfast buffet of baked pastries, fresh fruit, fluffy scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, breakfast potatoes, orange juice, cranberry juice, coffee, and water. After breakfast, you’ll join zookeepers that care for the animals of Marco Polo’s Adventure Trek in opening for the day; climb into the bear exhibit to prep it for their arrival, get up close with a camel, and see the snow leopards, red pandas, cranes and takin get their first enrichment of the day. Capacity is limited to 25 participants, so register early!

Breakfast with the Giant River Otters (Ages 7+)

Event Information

Take a trip to the tropics this winter and be one of the first to experience the new Faces of the Rainforest exhibit behind-the-scenes! After a hot breakfast buffet held in the nearby Meller-Danforth Education Center, you will join staff that care for the animals of the rainforest in opening for the day; preparing breakfast for the giant river otters, creating enrichment for some of the Rainforest residents, and inspecting life-support systems with the operations staff. Capacity is limited to 30 participants, so register today!

Price: $55 RWP Zoo members; $65 Non-members

Ticket price includes a hot breakfast buffet, program, and admission to the Zoo post program. Participants age 15 and younger must be accompanied by a registered adult. Pre-registraion is required. The behind-the-scenes components of this program are not wheelchair accessible. Climbing of stairs and walking on uneven surfaces will be required.

Scout Safari Night
May 16, 2020 - 5:30pm to 8:30pm
Event Information

Scout Safari Night includes animal enrichment making, owl pellet investigation, keeper talks, animal encounters, conservation carnival, worm composting & seed planting, tours of the John J. Palumbo Veterinary Hospital, mad scientist lab, a commemorative Scout Safari Night patch and more! All while completing a variety of badge requirements.

Participants can also take part in a service project by collecting items for our animals wish list.
