A day off from school opens up an opportunity to learn, explore, and make friends in a unique one-day camp only available at Roger Williams Park Zoo. Zoo-Cation one-day camps engage campers in a full day of crafts, hands-on and inquiry-driven activities, encounters with wild animal ambassadors, and a tour of the Zoo that includes an opportunity to feed the goats in the ALEX AND ANI Farmyard.

Hours: Each day camp runs 8:30 am - 3:30 pm

Ages 4 & 5: Tadpole Academy (max 15 per day, full day only)
Ages 6 – 10: Adventures (max 30 per day, divided into smaller groups based on ages)
Ages 11 – 13: Conservation Heroes (max 10 per day)

- Registration deadlines are one week prior to your desired day of camp, but camps may sell out prior to deadlines.
- Campers must be the minimum age of each camp at the time of attending camp. Requirements are not negotiable and are strictly enforced. RWP Zoo reserves the right to cancel your registration if your camper does not meet the minimum age requirement.
- All Tadpole Academy campers must be completely toilet trained (requiring no assistance in the bathroom).
- Refunds, minus a $15 registration fee per camper per day camp, may be issued prior to September 13, 2017 for Fall Zoo-Cation Day Camps. Absolutely no refunds will be given after September 13, 2017.
- Pre-paid lunch options are available for full-day campers. For $6/day, choose from cheese pizza, a turkey sandwich, mac and cheese, or a veggie wrap, all with a juice box and a piece of fruit packaged in recyclable and compostable containers.
- Zoo-Cation Day Camp registrations do not include a ZooCamp t-shirt.
- After care is available for $10/day per camper.
Online registration opens for all Fall Zoo-Cation Day Camps in August, and ends one week prior to your desired day of camp. (For example, registration for Columbus Day’s camp on October 9 will end at 11:59pm on Monday, October 2.)

We strongly urge you to use the online method to register for camp, since it will give you immediate knowledge of registration status and the greatest likelihood of getting the weeks you desire. If you don't have a home computer, you can access the internet at most public libraries.
You will need a credit card and an email address to make full payment through our Verisign-secured server, before receiving confirmation and important information about camp. Please have all your contact information, membership or new membership confirmation number (if applicable) and each camper's medical information (including allergies, medications, medical conditions) available.
There is no maximum number of registrations per person. However, it is highly recommended that you do not try to register more than a few children at a time since you may not get all of them into the same week of camp. Please register Tadpole Academy campers first since there are a limited number of spots.
No. A parent, legal guardian or grandparent must register children. Please do not register friends, neighbors, etc. If you do register a child other than your own, you will be that child's primary emergency contact and solely responsible for all medical and registration information. There is no way to change this in the system.
No, payment in full is required at time of registration.
If the camp of your choice is sold out, please fill out a Mail-In Registration Form (print from online or request via phone) WITHOUT payment to be placed on a waiting list. There is no guarantee a space will become available. If a space does become available, we will contact the first person on the list who will then have 12 hours to respond. If we do not hear from you within 12 hours, we will contact the next person on our list.
We will give refunds, minus a $15 processing fee per camp, per camper, until September 13, 2017 for all Fall Zoo-Cation Day Camps. We will not give any refunds after September 13, 2017.
Due to the high demand for camp spaces, we must adhere to the above cancellation policy. If you enroll your child, and then you must cancel after the above listed dates for any reason (including illness), your registration fee is non-refundable unless a child on the waiting list can fill the space. If we do fill the slot, we will deduct a $15 processing fee from your refund.
Since Roger Williams Park Zoo is a conservation organization, we do not send any camp information via mail. We send your confirmation, newsletters, reminders and notices to your registration email address. Please notify us if your email address changes or if you are not receiving emails. This information is vital to your camper’s experience. Even if you have participated in ZooCamp previously, we strongly encourage you to read all camp materials since information changes year-to-year.

We do make exceptions for children with special needs at the discretion of the ZooCamp Director.
We group campers by age to ensure that all campers receive age-appropriate opportunities. Please make special requests to put relatives or friends in the same group at the time of registration. Please remember, we follow strict guidelines on age ranges. We cannot guarantee requests and cannot make changes to groups less than one week before camp. This includes during morning check-in.
Yes! RWP Zoo's registration system has dual capability. It is recommended that you add your Zoo membership to your cart first, and “continue shopping” to then register for your selected days of camp. We apply the member discount automatically for camp in your final cart. Please call (401) 785-3510 ext. 358 with any questions.
No. For your safety, please do not remain in the Zoo after dropping off your camper. Prior to the Zoo opening, preparations are underway that require the Zoo to be free of visitors. If you would like to visit the Zoo, you must enter through the main admission gate after 10:00 am.
ZooCamp staff is under the supervision of the manager of family programs, Jen Karow and ZooCamp director, Erica Nadeau. Counselors are college age or older, undergo federal level background checks and receive extensive training in advance of camp. Camper-to-staff ratio is 6:1 or better.
Most ZooCamps offer after camp care to meet the needs of working parents at a cost of $10/day per child. “After Camp” is available from the time camp ends until 5:00 pm Monday – Friday. A late fee of $1/minute after 5:00 pm applies.
**Parents must inform camp staff at check-in if their child(ren) will be staying for After Camp.
We design all ZooCamps for children who can remain in a group setting without parental involvement. Throughout the day, please do not meet or follow your child’s tour group if out in the Zoo or in the park. This has is very distracting for our campers, and is a safety issue.
Zoo concessionaire, Boston Culinary Group, provides all lunches for campers. You must pre-order lunch. There may be some common allergens in lunch options including:
- Cheese pizza: wheat, flour, milk, soy
- Turkey sandwich: milk, soy, eggs, wheat, flour
- Hummus wrap: soy, wheat, flour
- Macaroni & Cheese: wheat, egg, milk and soy
