Special Events
All events and activities run 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., unless otherwise listed. Activities take place adjacent to the Flutterby exhibit area and are free with regular Zoo admission (Flutterby fee still applies for entry to the exhibit).
September 5
Flutterby Farewell
Labor Day, September 7, is your last chance to experience the special exhibit, “Flutterby: Butterflies in Bloom at Roger Williams Park Zoo.” But to get the exhibit’s final weekend started off with a bang, we've planned a day of special butterfly-themed activities on Saturday, September 5. Enjoy a variety of activities, demonstrations and more, all free with regular Zoo admission. Then experience Flutterby for one last time, before it's gone forever (entrance to Flutterby exhibit requires seperate admission of $3/adult and $2/child).
From 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., enjoy:
Stilt walking, plate spinning, juggling and more with Marvelous Marvin
Performance artists from Ten31 Productions:
- Giant butterfly puppet and caterpillar character (11 a.m. - 1 p.m.)
- Butterfly dancer (12 p.m. - 2 p.m.)
Temporary tattoo station
Bubble-blowing station
Butterfly Education Station and craft area
Outdoor Play Zone
- including sand play, horseshoes, hula hooping, chalk drawing & nature exploration area
Activities will take place by the Flutterby exhibit and are free with regular Zoo admission.
