USA Today 10Best Readers' Choice Announces Roger Williams Park Zoo Best Attraction in Rhode Island
Recognized nationwide as a leader in animal care, environmental education, and conservation efforts, many of the animals thriving at the Zoo are critically endangered, endangered, and/or vulnerable. Locally, Roger Williams Park Zoo conservationists focus on saving the American burying beetle, timber rattlesnake, and cottontail rabbit. Internationally, the Zoo is instrumental in conservation efforts for the African elephant, red panda, snow leopard, tree kangaroo, and a variety of amphibian species. Roger Williams Park Zoo is home to over 100 species of animals including a Komodo dragon, zebra’s, red pandas, African elephants, Masai giraffes, snow leopards, bears, anteaters, flamingoes, sloths, alligators, and more! Guests may feed giraffes and harbor seals, as well as an array of farmyard animals. For something slightly out of the ordinary, visitors may experience the Soaring Eagle Zip Ride, a train excursion through the woodlands, and a camel ride (spring and summer) at the Zoo’s Explore and Soar area.
