These 90-minute programs focus on a special animal or area of the Zoo, and present opportunities for adult/child pairs to make discoveries together. Programs include a lesson, activity, a craft, an up-close encounter with one of our education animals, and a walk to an exhibit. Please note: This program does not include direct interaction with exhibit animals.
Class Size: 12 max. One adult must accompany each child. We cannot accommodate additional adults or siblings due to space limitations.

Pre-registration is required and ends 48 hours prior to the program. Refunds are only given if the Zoo cancels the program. We must receive requests to transfer the date of your registration at least 48 hours in advance. If there are any changes to your registration, there is a $5 fee.
A minimum of five program participants is required to run a class. Participants will be notified one week before the scheduled class if a class has to be cancelled due to low enrollment, so enroll early!

Marco Polo’s adventure brought him face to face with the exotic animals of the Silk Road, and so will yours! Start by dining on a hot breakfast buffet of baked pastries, fresh fruit, fluffy scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, breakfast potatoes, orange juice, cranberry juice, coffee, and water. After breakfast, you’ll join zookeepers that care for the animals of Marco Polo’s Adventure Trek in opening for the day; climb into the bear exhibit to prep it for their arrival, get up close with a camel, and see the snow leopards, red pandas, cranes & takin get their first enrichment of the day. Capacity is limited to 25 participants, so register early!

The Easter Bunny will be hopping over to the Carousel this Spring! Visit with the Easter Bunny, then enjoy a ride on the Carousel or play the day away in the fully accessible outdoor Hasbro Boundless Playground open daily all year. And don't forget to bring your camera.

We cannot wait for our new Rainforest exhibit to open this Summer 2018! So much so, that we decided to bring the Amazon rainforest to you with a public movie screening of Amazon Adventures: A True Story of Scientific Discovery! The film traces the extraordinary journey of naturalist and explorer Henry Walter Bates and the bio-diversity of the Amazon Rainforest. Enjoy animal encounters, door prizes and a special meet-and-greet with Roger mascot before the movie; and a question and answer session after each showing of the movie with Zoo executive director, Dr. Jeremy Goodman and director of conservation, Lou Perrotti.

The work of Roger Williams Park Zoo’s Director of Conservation, Lou Perrotti, has taken him deep into the rainforests of South America. Hear stories of encounters with wild animals of all shapes and sizes on his path to protect Panama’s amphibian species, including Panama’s national animal, the Panamanian golden frog.

A day off from school opens up an opportunity to learn, explore, and make friends in a unique one-day camp only available at Roger Williams Park Zoo. Zoo-Cation one-day camps engage campers in a full day of crafts, hands-on and inquiry-driven activities, encounters with wild animal ambassadors, and a tour of the Zoo that includes an opportunity to feed the goats in the ALEX AND ANI Farmyard.

Winter Wonder Days are back! It may be cold and even snowy, but it is the perfect weather to see animals outside enjoying nature’s cooler temperatures. Visit the Zoo and enjoy half-price admission through the end of February!
Celebrate the holiday season! Roger Williams Park Zoo is hosting a Winter Festival at the historic Carousel Village on Saturday, December 2nd. Afternoon hours are noon – 3:00 pm for kids and families and feature a visit with Santa, ice carving demonstrations, holiday treats and an opportunity to hop aboard the Carousel Express train or ride the historic Carousel.
During the evening, 4:00 – 8:00 pm, join with friends and family take a horse drawn hayride through the park, visit Santa, see a dazzling holiday light display, enjoy a variety of food carts, sip some hot cocoa and get into the festive mood on the historic Carousel! All ages welcome.

Please note: *There is no cost to attend the Winter Festival. There are minimal fees for activities: $5.00 for the horse drawn hayride in the Park; $5.00 for a visit with Santa; $3.00 for the Train Ride, and $2.00 for a ride on the historic Carousel. Children one (1) of age and under are free. Parking is free in the Roger Williams Park Zoo parking lots, and the RIPTA trolley is available throughout the event from noon to 8:00 pm to offer free rides to the Carousel, Botanical Center and Museum of Natural History for other festive happenings.
Roger Williams Park Zoo will offer free admission on Friday, November 24! We invite you to spread holiday cheer by bringing non-perishable food items to benefit Rhode Island Community Food Bank.
