We need your help!
Roger Williams Park Zoo is excited to be able to host the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular as a drive-through for 2020! We need your support for our most important community event and fundraiser. As in a typical season, we rely on volunteers to make this fundraiser successful. We wouldn't be able to achieve the magic of the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular without the generosity of hundreds of volunteers and community members.
If you can support us this year, know that your generosity during this time could not be more valuable or appreciated! To volunteer, email email@example.com
We are asking all volunteers for the Jack-o-Lantern Spectacular to fill out our volunteer questionnaire. Click here to access the questionnaire. After filling out this questionnaire, a Volunteer Management staff member will reach out to sign you up.
Thank you for supporting Roger Williams Park Zoo!
Volunteer opportunities for Jack-o-Lantern Spectacular are closed for this year. If you would like to volunteer for next year’s event please know that we would be happy to have you help! All opportunities to volunteer for special events are closed through this year.
Volunteers for the Jack-o-Lantern Spectacular are expected to volunteer from 5:15 pm - 11:00 pm during the event. Upon arrival volunteers will be given an orientation and will learn more about the event! Volunteers are then assigned a position for the night. Volunteers will receive breaks and a chance to eat dinner. At the end of the shift, volunteers are dismissed and receive their hours or tickets for volunteering.
During the course of a shift, volunteer responsibilities include supporting the traffic queue of vehicles and providing general information such as answering questions and educating guests about the event. All volunteers will be positioned outdoors with limited and minimal direct exposure to guests, but direct access to staff.
With the event being every night of the week – we need all the help we can get! We do however have some requirements. With the responsibilities and accountability needed for such a big production, volunteers must be 16 years of age or older.
Please consult the Rhode Island Department of Health website for any policies that may affect out-of-state travel and other state Covid-19 regulations. This information can be found on the state’s website – https://health.ri.gov/covid/. If you are not a Rhode Island resident, please check your state’s Covid-19 policies on out of state travel.
As a thank you for volunteering, volunteers will be offered a complimentary drive through ticket to the Jack-o-Lantern Spectacular after completion of 5 shifts. If volunteers complete less than 5 shifts, they can request to receive a ticket for the Explore and Soar Zip-Ride. Even if you can volunteer for a shift or two, know that your support makes a difference, as the Zoo relies on hundreds of volunteers throughout the event.
Please know the Zoo’s priority is that our volunteers remain safe. We are currently, and will continue to take, important safety precautions for visitors, staff, and volunteers. All procedures and protocols have been defined by the CDC, State of Rhode Island, and City of Providence.
Volunteers, staff, and visitors will be temperature screened before entering the Zoo. All volunteers, staff, and visitors are expected to wear face masks. Disposable face masks are available to volunteers, if needed. More information is included in the following Covid-19 Training. We are asking ALL volunteers to complete this training prior to their shift. Please allow one hour to complete.
For our special events, children are not permitted to volunteer even if accompanied by an adult.
