Roger Williams Park Zoo offers a wide variety of internship programs, from veterinary and animal care to education, marketing and public relations, and more. Our internships are unpaid, but offer valuable hands-on experience.
Public Relations interns will gain broad experience in the field as they assist the Zoo's Public Relations department with special events, media relations, sponsorship and marketing initiatives and programs, and advertising. This is an unpaid internship. College students and recent graduates welcome. Interested applicants should send a resume and cover letter to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Video/Photography interns will gain broad experience in videography and photography as they assist the Marketing and Public Relations Department in the capturing and distrubuting of images and film for the Zoo. Animal Care Internship
Interns participating in the Animal Care Internship Program are responsible for working directly with the Roger Williams Park Zoo animal care staff. This internship is a wonderful, hands-on experience designed to educate people interested in careers with animals and conservation. Interns rotate through the different animal areas of the Zoo. This is a volunteer position. It is unpaid and there is no housing provided. The Interpretation Intern reports to the Manager of Interpretation and Graphics. This division of the Education Department is responsible for the educational experience of our general Zoo visitors. The Interpretation Intern will focus on supporting and developing programs for the general visitor. Our Big Backyard Internship
The “Our Big Backyard Intern” is a competitive program and a valued member of “Our Big Backyard” exhibit team. Primarily responsible for observing and facilitating children’s play experiences as well as providing resources for zoo patrons in the activity play spaces located within the “Our Big Backyard” exhibit. Interns in this area get additional experience assisting with volunteer coordination, visitor study, and guest engagement evaluations. Must be enthusiastic, willing to learn, and foster a safe environment for our patrons. Please see job description for internship details.
