Second in series of Summer-Long “Animal Birthday Club”, the Zoo Celebrates the Birthdays of Alice, Kate, and Ginny, the African Elephants
Providence, RI – Roger Williams Park Zoo is hosting birthday celebrations in honor of some of its most popular animals this summer. In addition, kids who join in the celebrations at the Zoo will have a chance at a “Zoofari Birthday Party” of their own, or even an up-close elephant encounter, through the Zoo’s Animal Birthday Party Club. The second birthday celebration of the season will be held Saturday, June 22 in honor of the Zoo’s three African elephants, Alice, Kate and Ginny.
Visitors to the elephants’ birthday celebration can pick up an Animal Birthday Club card at the elephant exhibit. They will then receive a stamp on their Club card, which they can bring to the other Birthday Parties to get stamped. Those who collect three stamps will be entered to win a Zoofari birthday party of their own at the Zoo during the 2014 season. Those who collect stamps at all five of the animal birthday parties will also be entered to win a behind the scenes elephant encounter. (The first Animal Birthday Party was in May, so those who did not attend will not be eligible for this opportunity).
Animal birthday celebrations will be held on:
Saturday, June 22 for Alice, Kate, and Ginny, the elephants
Tuesday, July 09 for Gina, the camel
Thursday, July 25 for Persephone, the red river hog, and
Wednesday, August 8 for Jaffa and Amber, the Masai giraffes
Activities at all the celebrations will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. In addition to having their Animal Birthday Party Club card stamped, families can enjoy watching each birthday animal receive a special birthday enrichment treat. Kids can also take part in some fun party games, get creative with a party craft, and enjoy music and other entertainment.
