Meet Peter - the first New England cottontail baby of the year!
Unlike the invasive Eastern cottontail that you see in your own backyard, these vulnerable cottontails struggle to adapt as the forest areas they call home are increasingly developed. By breeding rare bunnies here at the Zoo, we are able to safely boost their population. Once released into newly created conservation spaces, Peter will help preserve the species for the future.
As a Rainforest supporter and donor, you will be one of the first invited to experience the exhibit when it opens and your name will be included on our donor wall.
(Please note, gifts of $250 or more will be recognized on the Rainforest donor wall)
The new Rainforest exhibit will take you on a journey to the depths of the Amazon Rainforest. Experience rare and exciting creatures from birds and primates to tropical fish and reptiles. Adults and children will discover how these diverse species, big and small, create the complex ecosystem rainforests thrive on, and learn what we can all do to ensure they survive.
There are many human activities that threaten the rainforest, causing the destruction of habitat for thousands of species and resulting in biodiversity loss. This expansive rainforest exhibit will educate visitors about how the many faces of the rainforest all play a role in sustainability - from a vast array of animals, to native peoples. modern industry, AND YOU!
Your actions locally affect our environment globally. Our goal is to teach each generation of visitors that their everyday behaviors and decisions are important, and make a difference. We hope you will consider becoming a face of the Rainforest and support our endeavor.
The Zoo Guardian program is Roger Williams Park Zoo’s premier membership level. Our Zoo Guardian members are committed to wildlife conservation and donate annual dues of $250 or more.

Why a Bench?
A commemorative bench at Roger Williams Park Zoo is a thoughtful and distinctive way to recognize a special person or occasion. In addition to being a meaningful honor, commemorative benches help beautify the Zoo and enhance the visitor experience.
Funds raised help RWPZ support the Zoo’s Mission to create a unique educational experience and contribute to the conservation of the earth’s natural resources and animals.
For a tax-deductible donation of $2,000, you can provide a lasting memorial or commemorate a special event. Your message will be cast onto a 8.5” x 2” plaque and placed on the bench.
For more information on the Commemorative Bench Program, or to purchase a plaque, please contact Brooke Fairman at Bfairman@rwpzoo.org or call 401-785-3510 ext. 337.
Roger Williams Park Zoo, one of the oldest zoos in the country, has entertained and delighted Rhode Islanders since its opening in 1872. Today, the Zoo is Rhode Island's top outdoor tourist attraction, and one of the most popular family venues in the region. Average attendance for the past few years has hovered at 650,000 and the current membership base is more than 20,000 households. More than 96,000 households subscribe to our monthly e-newsletter.
